Mid-term Review

Use the reading guides for The Scarlet Letter and Jane Eyre to study for your mid-term. Make sure you can answer questions from the reading guides to review for your exam. Be familiar with main characters, themes and literary devices we have discussed in both novels. You can find the reading guides in our classroom Dropbox.

Another Extra Credit Possibility Added!

I have added another extra credit possibility to The Scarlet Letter drop box. The file is named Baking TSL Extra Credit. Remember, only choose one extra credit project. All projects are due Tuesday, October 15. Late projects will not be accepted.

Unit One Test is Tomorrow and Thursday!

We have been working diligently in class preparing for the Unit One test which is tomorrow and Thursday during block periods. Make sure you have all of the handouts for the notebook check and study the literary terms. You can find a list of the handouts needed for the Unit One notebook check in the Dropbox located on the downloads link on this page. I have also posted a list of literary terms to be familiar with for the Unit One test. Study!!!!!

Collaborative Learning in RM 207 ...

We are settling into our daily routines, and students are getting to know one another by working in collaborative groups. Students discovered the elements of writing evidence-based claims last week, and this week we are exploring archetypes in different forms of literature and media.

We do have our Unit One test this Wednesday and Thursday, September 18 and 19. I will post a scoring rubric and a notebook checkpoint later this week.

The first week was a success!

We were very busy in the classroom this week getting to know one another and working on Unit One activities. Students reviewed their grammar skills, wrote six-word memoirs, identified strengths and weaknesses in their study skills, and set academic goals for the year. This coming week will be just as busy. Make sure to visit the Downloads page and print the necessary handouts for this week. Also, if you haven't already, please sign up for Remind101 text reminders, and I need signed parent and blog forms from those who haven't already submitted these forms.

Excitement!

The first day of school is almost here! I have everything ready for all of you. I am looking forward to meeting you and filling you in on all of the fun we are going to have.

I have added a new calendar link that includes lesson plans. Lesson plans for this week are now posted. If you haven't already, please go ahead and start collecting your class supplies.
